I have had their service for a year.Times up,time to remove the machine. The company has transmitted eroneous info. to the Arizona MVD ,due to faulty machine, extending my requirement to keep machine and continue collecting money from me.100s just like me.On line: problems and pitfalls of smartstart interlock. Will not give me my records, refuse to admit responsibility. All you get is the run around and a lot of legal grief.Very lucerative business, just follow the money and you'll see! They've kind got 'cha over a barrell and they know it and are taking full advantage! Thanks

Your not alone .. Smart start sucks!

There equipment is cheap and unrealible. They are money hungry with zero customer service skills. I cannot put into words how much this company does not care about there customers .. They think of you as a number.

That is it money money money .. And for what ?? Zero customer service and it's an all your fault attitude. Warning !!

Do NOT USE SMART START!

Pay a little more and use another company .. You won't get your liscense with this company!!!!!!

What company would you recommend? I live in Los Angeles and still have 6 months left with this car-ruining breathalyzer. Any info would be much appreciated!

Very upset with this company! More or less the people they contract through to have these devices installed.

They must not train these contractors and make sure they knowledgeable on how the device needs to be installed. When I arrived to the location to have it installed they were an hour late to the appointment. I was told by Smart Start that it would only take 2 hours. I thought well thatโ€™s not too bad so I told work that I would only use 3 hours of PTO and I would return later in the day.

5 HOURS!!!!!! Later my car was out of this shady looking garage! When I got into my car I needed to get gas, and conveniently the gas station was across the street. I put my car in reverse and my power steering is electric and it felt extremely stiff like it was going out.

I go to turn into the gas station and I hear this terrible clicking, but thatโ€™s not the worst of it! I look at my dash and all my check service engine lights are on. I live in WI where we get a foot a snow in a matter of hours, and they messed with my electrical so bad that my traction control went out, and they cut my service break!!!!! My cruise control doesnโ€™t work and none of my charger or power outlets work.

I know for a fact this is not my car acting up. I own a 2015 with less than 9,000 miles on it. When I pulled into the garage not a single service light was on. Today I went to my car on my lunch and my interlock device says locked VIOLATION!

Wtfโ€ฆ so I sit on hold for my entire lunch waiting to talk with someone, and I was told that I would need to pay a $60 fee for a temp. Unlock code! I told the lady I don't think so, because I did not do anything that violated the contract that they had me sign. This is on them and they will cover their own charge, as they wonโ€™t cover any damages that were made to my car!

TERRIBLE!!!!! I WILL BE CHANGING TO A DIFFERENT INTERLOCK PROVIDER!

Drinking and driving or not, does not give this company the right to steal from their customers. IT'S ILLEGAL TO STEAL!

My System was installed one year ago and I was told Smart start was my only choice. After the install I heard a clicking under the dash.

I immediately turned around and went back. The Technician rerouted the cable to the head and placed a restraint point under the dash. Two days later It continued to abort during rolling blows and I took it back again. After 30 minutes of arguing with me they finally replaced the system with a new one.

2 Days later I found out my wipers no longer worked and that the install technician removed the power wire from the wiper switch in order to use the fuse location for the Interlock device. All of which the manager denied on my next visit. During the winter months I have had two occasions where I blow a Warn/Warn/Violation/Pass in 4 consecutive blows. How is that possible.

Yesterday I woke up at 9:00am after 10 hours of sleeping filled my truck with Window Washer Fluid and blew 2 violations in a row.

Went back later and blew a Pass. My Probation Officer reports "every" Violation to the Courts regardless of Smart Start mis-calculations.

For those who have valid complaints about smart start please post a complaint on the better business bureau site. They do respond and I need as many people to post as possible for something to be done about these criminals!

I missed 2 days of work due to a faulty device and have a hard time driving when it beeps for rolling blows on the freeway.

Please go into www.bbb.org and post a complaint. I am working with them and need more people to compain.

Thanks

This is the worst company in the world :( their device is absolute ***, totally screwed up my 2 years old BMW X5 electrical system, went through 2 batteries, new alternator, and on and on and on....

The device is ***, they keep giving me the run around, nickel and dime me for everything. I got paperwork to get the da*n thing removed and they try to charge me $375 to get it removed ($80 monthly charge, + $50 for the invisible lockout, + $40 something removal fee, plus some other bull s*h*t, I told the criminal dude at the store, you better get the *** out of my way, I will remove this cancer my self, and fed-ex the *** to you.

He tried to threaten me with breaking my probation (to which I have court documents for removal) and extra fees and charges, I told him to go ahead and try that, then we will see what's going to happen.

I already got one of the best lawyers in all of DFW suing their as*s*s*s.

I took mine out myself /fed-exed it and sent it so they had to sign for it- I also insured it so they couldn't say it was broken! Never heard a word after that!

We are needing to remove one too. My husband was charged with a DUI because he wouldn't take the breathalyzer for the cops.

Only reason he wouldn't was because they had held a gun to his head and fought him down to the ground. Needless to say, he was very ill, to put it nicely. He was running out of gas and was swerving to get his truck to pick up the gas so the cop swore he was drunk. He voluntarily had it put in his truck and had already had it in for a year before they finally ended it and charged him with the DUI, without evidence.

Anyways, the court never ordered him to have it, but he wanted to keep it in for another year, just for good measure. His truck was locked out already, when he was scheduled to have it removed. The people said he would have to have it towed to them to have it removed. We just can't afford the money to have it towed and the removal fee.

Did you happen to find the directions somewhere online or just wing it?

If you could help with how to remove it safely, we would both be so grateful to you!! Thank you for reading this message and I hope you have a wonderful afternoon.

I have had this for over a year an they have taken a lot of my money on having it calibrated over an over again due to handset malfunction. $50.00

Bucks a pop.

This is hard on any one, harder on single parents. I can't afford this cause of their fault. I wouldn't *** if it was mine. If I even smoke before I blow it fails or warns me then I only have 72 hours to go pay them again.

I totally understand I screwed up an did it to myself . But come on I've been thru five hand sets an nothing but rude service reps. They really need to fix this for every one.

Hopefully I only have 6 more months left unless they screw me over again. Thanks for letting me vent a little.

SMART START IS A WRONG START :(

Thanks to 5 months of a malfunctioning Smart Start I had to spend a week in jail after months of complaining to my Probation Officer and Smart Start that the device was not working right. All Smart Start would do is jiggle the cord and tell me it was fine.

Finally the *** thing quit working. Of course I had to have my car towed to Smart Start where they put in a brand new device. And of course there is no recourse. Thanks to Smart Start I now have to wear and pay $365 per month (which I do not have).

I see my probation officer tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK
